An Architectural insight with a great talent: David Moshe Aviv
Great home design is about far more than blueprints and elevations. It is about creating thoughtfully considered spaces that inspire, elevate, and enhance the way we live. At StructurePoint, we believe exceptional homes begin with exceptional vision. That’s why we speak with architects who bring creativity, craftsmanship, and deep expertise to every project they undertake. Through our Meet the Architect series, we take you behind the scenes to meet the talented minds shaping the spaces and environments of tomorrow.
For our first feature, we are pleased to spotlight David Moshe Aviv, an architect whose passion for blending artistry, functionality, and thoughtful design has influenced the built environment for many years. His work reflects a belief that great architecture should not only be beautiful, but also purposeful, creating spaces that feel timeless, distinctive, and deeply connected to the people who inhabit them.

What inspired you to pursue a career in architecture, and how has that passion shaped your approach to design?
I have always been drawn to creativity. As a child, I loved drawing, sketching, and painting, and I was especially fascinated by landscapes and classical Greek architecture. I admired its timeless balance of proportion, symmetry, and simplicity, and how beauty and structure could exist in perfect harmony. That early inspiration continues to influence my approach to architecture today. I believe great home design should unite artistry and functionality, creating spaces that are not only beautiful and purposeful, but also enhance the way people live.
Which home or residential project has been the most meaningful to you, and what made it so special?
One of the most challenging and rewarding projects I have had the privilege of working on was the iconic townhome building at Aria in Atlanta. What made it especially meaningful was seeing an architectural vision become a place where people could truly build their lives. The community brought together lofts, townhomes, and single-family homes in a thoughtfully designed, harmonious environment. Watching the buildings take shape and imagining the families who would eventually call them home was incredibly rewarding. For me, that is one of the most fulfilling aspects of architecture – creating spaces that become part of people’s stories and memories.

What feature or detail in one of your designs are you most proud of?
I take great pride in the elevations of our homes. A thoughtfully designed elevation sets the architectural character of a community and plays an important role in attracting prospective homebuyers. By carefully balancing color, materials, proportions, and architectural details, we create distinctive exteriors that make a lasting impression.

What do you enjoy most about designing homes, and what keeps the creative process exciting for you?
I especially enjoy the moment when a new home plan begins to come together. There is something incredibly rewarding about watching an initial concept evolve from a simple sketch into a refined digital model and, ultimately, into a fully realized home. Seeing an idea move from paper to reality never loses its excitement.
What is a common misconception about architecture that you wish more people understood?
One common misconception is that architecture is simply about creating attractive elevations or arranging rooms within a floor plan. In reality, good architectural design requires a much broader understanding of the site, the surrounding context, the lot, the needs of the target homeowner, and the relationship between the home and its environment. Every decision is interconnected. Our role as architects is to bring these elements together thoughtfully, creating homes that are aesthetically compelling, highly functional, and responsive to the people who will ultimately live in them.
What is the most important element in creating a home that truly feels livable?
A truly livable home should feel personal, intuitive, and connected to the way people live. As architects, our responsibility is to create spaces that thoughtfully balance functionality, comfort, and aesthetics while responding to the homeowner’s lifestyle and daily needs. The best homes provide a strong architectural foundation while remaining flexible enough to become a personal expression of the people who live in them—a canvas for life, rather than simply a beautifully designed space.

Outside of architecture, what are some of your hobbies and interests?
I enjoy spending time at the beach, playing tennis, skiing, traveling, and staying active. I also have a passion for art and enjoy collecting pieces that I find interesting and meaningful. I appreciate fine dining, great design, and discovering beautiful places around the world.
